Turning unique gas properties into high performing glass products
Specialty gases such as argon, xenon, neon, and krypton are used to fill items made of glass in order to improve their performance or make them function. Examples include filling light bulbs, neon lighting and windows and doors/insulated glass units (IGUs). Using argon between the panes of glass in double glazing units significantly increases the thermal properties of the unit over simply using dry air, by taking advantage of the low conductivity of argon gas to reduce convective and conductive heat losses.
